Human Rights – Training Course
This project consisted of two mobilities and an interphase activity :
Activity 1 : Turku, Finland
– Objectives : Getting the participants to know each other and creating a network of youth workers involved in international mobility, introduce them to Compass and key aspects of Human Rights, support them
in the creation of local activities for the dissemination of the skills and knowledge acquired during the mobility.
– Topics covered: Definition, value clarification, key competencies in HRE and youth work, global HR framework, EU and international HR institutions, hate speech, Compass manual, intro to Youthpass and ~
facilitation.
– Participants : There were 6 participants per country (Finland, Latvia, Bulgaria, Turkiye, Italy) + Trainers & experts, for an overall 33 participants. Those included in a large proportion youth workers, teachers,
youth leaders, NGO members, but also, in smaller proportions, students in the field of psychology, social work and international relations.
Interphase activity : Finland, Turkey, Latvia, Bulgaria, Italy
– Objectives: Fighting hate speech and discriminations towards minorities, raising awareness on those topics, combating gender based violence and stereotypes, promoting Erasmus+ opportunities.
– Events held : 1 – Human Rights Matter – Together We Can Do It, a public event promoting disability rights, healthy lifestyles and inclusion (Ruvo di Puglia, Italy). Participants: 25-30 participants, members of
the local community and of the gym club of a youth worker.
2 – Raising awareness about impairments and different access needs in school (Bursa, Turkey). Participants: 15 school students.
3 – Human Rights, Hate Speech, Discrimination, European institutions – in school (Bansko, Bulgaria). Participants: 20-25 school students from a vulnerable group, aged 12-13. ~
4 – Social inequality – topic addressed at “Young Folks”, local Latvian youth organization (Riga, Latvia). Participants: 10 youngsters, beneficiaries of the organization.
5 – Cultural awareness, Raising awareness about human rights in local and foreign settings. Stimulating discussions on human rights violations/challenges and solutions in an individual, local
and governmental context – Open and on-going workshop for participants in a multi-cultural exchange event called “EtnoFest” (Turku, Finland). Participants: 50 people attending the festival.
Activity 2 : Bansko, Bulgaria
– Objectives : Refreshing the participants’ knowledge on Human Rights, evaluation of the local activities and dissemination.
– Topics covered: General HR, evaluation skills and techniques, EU actions towards Ukraine and migrants, project writing.
– Participants: 6 participants per country (Finland, Latvia, Bulgaria, Turkiye, Italy) + Trainers & experts, for a total of 33 participants. Those included in a large proportion youth workers, teachers, youth leaders,
NGO members, but also, in smaller proportions, students in the field of psychology, social work and international relations.
